Goldshield Group Ltd is a marketing-led pharmaceutical and consumer health company.

As well as a retail channel, the consumer healthcare division includes a direct-to-consumer channel offering both phone and online sales, but although it had started well, online was no longer performing to expectations. One of the problems was that, to support the online business, the internal team was managing an increasingly broader range of service providers. This generated operational inefficiencies and significant coordination costs so Goldshield decided to seek a single outsource partner.

After a two month intensive evaluation process, (  )pen was awarded a performance-incentivised four year contract to provide a full suite of highly integrated technology, marketing and operational services covering five UK and European consumer health and strategic brand e-commerce websites. These went live on the Real Commerce™ platform at the beginning of 2010, with several new strategic brand sites anticipated to be launched in each following year. Under the new arrangements, (  )pen has also been tasked with the ongoing management of online marketing campaigns and day-to-day trading activities. Goldshield has a target to grow online sales from the current level of about 10% up to 50% of total consumer health sales.
